Welcome to Little Yorkies on the Prairie, located in South Dakota, where we raise top quality, exquisite AKC Yorkshire Terriers for companionship and show potential.

You will catch me periodically quoting “Yorkies are just like potato chips, you can never have just one!”. This is how it all begins! Once you have one, it’s hard not to have another. Yorkies are the most delightful, unique breed to own. They will most definitely put a smile on your face everyday, they are so in tuned with you that I simply can’t imagine our lives without them. Many ask “how do you tell your babes apart?” How could you not, I think!? Each and everyone all have different looks and their own unique personalities as well, no two are alike. They come in all different colors, sizes and shapes. Sounds Familiar?

Our yorkies are carefully bred and with our strong pedigree lineage and high quality genetics, each individual babe will have the best health, personality plus temperament, beautiful colorings and excellent structure. The majority of our babes will weigh 2-5 pounds full grown. Our babes are raised in a loving family environment where each one is given lots of tender loving care and will be down right spoiled! They are treated as part of our family, our children. Our family is committed in breeding exquisite Yorkshire Terriers. Our main objective is to give you the most healthy, beautiful, loved, well socialized and don’t forget, ‘Happy” yorkie for years to come!

We are here to help you find the right babe that best suits your needs. Your babe will be very well socialized, loved, will have current vaccinations, paper trained and will have already have a wonderful start on life! Our goal is to place our pups in loving homes when the pup reaches at least 3 months of age. Pups that will weigh under 3 lbs. full grown stay with us much longer. We affiliate with the American Kennel Club where you can rest assure that you are getting a Purebred Yorkshire Terrier with correct parents where as we do DNA our babes. I encourage anyone that is interested in adopting a yorkie to do their homework and learn as much as you can before you make a long term commitment. Yorkies can live as long as 12+ years depending on many factors such as health and the care he/she receives and what YOU are willing to put into their lives for in return they will give you many years of love, joy and devotion. Tidbit of information, we are located in South Dakota (approx. 30 miles from one of Charles Ingalls homesteads, in De Smet, South Dakota). Laura Ingalls Wilder moved here when she was twelve, when De Smet was little more than a railroad camp, and the Ingalls lived in the Surveyors House.

In 1880, Pa filed his claim, and built his claim shanty. Laura and her family lived thru The Long Winter, made many friends as the town grew, got her first job as seamstress, taught her three terms of school (near De Smet), fell in love and got married.
